Unity Academy – Keranyo Becomes Operational
In accordance with its commitment and aspiration to ensure the quality of education, Unity University has continued its engagement in the area of General Education. With this in view, the University has made it a point to enhance the integration of KG, primary and secondary education into higher education. It was with this in the background that the University embraced the idea of establishing Unity Academy some three years back.
The Academy started with its first campus in Gerji, Addis Ababa, and continued its expansion to Adama only two years later. This academic year, the Academy launched yet another branch in Keranyo Sub-City, also in Addis Ababa. The target of the Academy, besides enhancing the long-distance of ensuring quality education, is to respond to the needs of the community, so that they would be able to send their children to schools in their respective vicinities.
Unity Academy – Keranyo finalised its preparations, acquired accreditation from the appropriate government organ and readied itself to enroll students for KG to Grade Eight for 2009 (2016/17) academic year. According to Ato Tagel Bellete, Director, Unity Academy – Keranyo, currently, the Academy has enrolled a total of 493 (257 male and 236 female) students from KG to Grade Eight, and the teaching-learning process is in full swing. The number of KG students is 142 (72 male and 70 female); whereas the number of grade students is 351 (185 male and 166 female).
